In Honor of Martin Luther King, Jr.

There are many famous African-American people who we honor for their heroic actions to fight for equality in America. There is one who we will celebrate one day very soon in honor of everything he did to fight for Civil Rights: Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dr. King fought for equality between African-Americans and white people. Some places are named after Dr. King and statues of him were created in his honor. After his death, his wife, Coretta Scott King, continued to lead the Civil Rights Movement. Some people still honor the day when he gave his famous speech "I Have a Dream." On January 15th, we will be celebrating a special federal holiday called Martin Luther King Day which was created in honor of this heroic Civil Rights Activist.
